Hardie Plank Painting
Hardie plank siding is a newer composite material made from a concrete substrate; it's very heavy but very durable. Once it goes onto a home, usually as siding or fascia boards, it is a very good solution and a long term fix to protecting the outside of the home. It used to be that there was aluminum siding, then vinyl siding, but hardie plank siding is now taking over as the #1 siding replacement and new build siding product to put on homes.
The advantage of hardie plank siding is that it doesn't bow much. Once it's caulked, it usually doesn't move as much as wood, so the caulking and siding on the home is much more secure and sealed.
Finally, hardie plank siding can be painted any color you want. Cedar siding lasts 8-10 years when you apply 2 good quality coats; hardie plank siding that is painted with a good quality paint can last for 20 years. Over time, the paint may fade slightly, but, it won't chip, peel or fail. Hardie plank siding is a great exterior siding product and can be painted any color.
