The home featured original 1970s brown brick paired with tired, dark brown shutters. The entire exterior felt heavy and dated. 

Design & Color Consultation 

We provided a free professional color consultation, narrowing down several modern color schemes. Before any paint was applied, we created digital renderings of the home using the client’s actual photos—allowing them to visualize the final result before moving forward. 

The main goal was clear: brighten and modernize the home. The windows, gutters, and overall exterior were noticeably dark, making the house feel smaller and more closed in. 

Proper Preparation Makes Paint Last

The preparations and coatings began: 

• Pressure washed all surfaces 

• Taped, tarped, caulked, and scraped loose paint, primed exposed areas 

• Applied specialty brick primers and masonry coatings designed for brick and long-term durability 

The Transformation 

Once painted, the results were dramatic. 

• Dark window frames were upgraded to a custom white, instantly brightening the view both inside and out  

• Based on our consultant’s recommendation, the dark brown shutters were permanently removed, making the home feel larger and less broken up 

• The brick body now looks clean, modern, and cohesive 

• Gutters and downspouts were refinished with a dark, glossy finish that looks nearly like they were replaced  

• The brick color was extended up to the underside of the eaves (soffits), reducing visual clutter and giving the home a taller appearance for the ranch style home
