This project began with a home completely overtaken by aggressive, out-of-control ivy. What may have once looked charming had turned into a destructive force—damaging stucco, weakening brick mortar, and trapping years of dirt and moisture against the home.

The homeowners knew it was time to act before the damage got worse.

Elbow Grease: Removing the Ivy & Repair

The ivy had embedded itself deep into the home’s exterior, requiring significant elbow grease to fully remove. Once cleared, it exposed widespread “tentacle damage” to both the stucco and mortar joints—areas that we had to scrape, sand, patch and fill.

Pressure Washing

With the vines gone, we moved into a cleaning the surface. Some call it pressure washing, some call it power washing, we do it the right way to clean the surface so new paint sticks.

• Thoroughly washed the home to remove years of dirt, mold, mildew, and loose coatings

Major Repair

• Once clean, we focused on repairing the surfaces:
• Applied new stucco coating where damage was present
• Repaired brick mortar and filled existing stucco cracks
• Used elastomeric stucco patch to ensure flexibility and long-term durability
• Primed all new stucco and sealed the existing surfaces for a uniform foundation

A Modern Color Transformation

With the surface fully restored, it was time for the visual transformation.

The outdated cottage yellow and stained and cracked white color scheme was replaced with a bold, modern palette:

• Body: A clean, natural off-white that brightens the home
• Trim: A deep, rich black sometimes called TriCorn—the blackest of black you can find in the paint color deck.

We applied two full topcoats of specialty stucco coating, this premium stuff looks great for a long time.
